Disruptive Telecom Devices: VoIP

Date:  Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Time: 1:00 PM

Presenter:  John Abel, Partner, Team Lightbulb

This webinar, first in a series exploring disruptive devices and your business, puts the focus on VoIP.

There has been an explosion in consumer electronics and seemingly there is no end in sight to the growth of devices that consumers can connect directly to networks or use with other devices to gain access to telecom networks.  In most instances consumers can gain easy and virtually free access to telecom networks with simple and inexpensive consumer electronic devices.

This webinar begins with an overview of how consumer electronics are exploding and briefly examine the range of disruptive devices on the market.  The major focus, however, for this webinar will be on VoIP devices that can be attached to broadband networks for voice calling.

  • How much do these VoIP devices cost?
  • How do they operate?
  • Where do you purchase them?
  • How easy or difficult are they to set up and operate?

This is a review of devices from companies and services with names like VoiceStick, Majic Jack, Ooma, ActionTec and others.
