Free Webinar: Getting Ready For the New Red Flag Rules

Date:  Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Time: 1:00 PM

November 1, 2008, is the deadline for companies to implement a written identity theft prevention program, in response to the Federal Trade Commission’s new Red Flag rules.  These sweeping rules cover all companies, including telecommunications companies and suppliers, that bill for services in arrears or offer installment plans for services, customer premise equipment, or other equipment or facilities and maintain customer accounts.

A company’s Red Flag compliance program must identify and detect potential risks of identity theft (the Red Flags), as well as provide steps to mitigate and prevent identity theft once a Red Flag is detected.  The FTC’s regulations explain the steps that every company is required to take and include guidelines that provide examples of potential Red Flags that companies may want to include in their compliance program.
