Cyber Security Step by Step
The National Cyber Security Alliance is a public-private partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Trade Commission, and many private-sector corporations and organizations and has developed resources for cyber security awareness and education for home user, small business, and education audiences.
Identity Theft/Privacy
Identity theft, or identity fraud, is a crime that can have substantial financial consequences. Both corporations and individuals should employ cyber precautions with personal information and report incidents immediately to minimize damage.
Spyware
Spyware, or adware, has become increasingly prevalent. When troubleshooting problems with your computer, you may discover that the source of the problem is spyware software that has been installed on your machine without your knowledge. United States Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT)
The US-CERT was established in 2003 and is operated by the Department of Homeland Security, National Cyber Security Division. Its mission is to protecting the internet infrastructure and is responsible for coordinating defenses against, and responses, to cyber attacks across the nation. The US-CERT website provides the public with detailed, up-to-the minute data on cyber threats, vulnerabilities and warnings Web site.
