Tech-Forward Website Spotlights Broadband Association’s New Focus
Content-rich Site Showcases Vibrant Potential of High-Speed Internet
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of its new broadband focus, the United States Telecom Association (USTelecom) today unveiled a new, multi-media website that highlights the tremendous services and opportunities the nation’s broadband providers are making possible. The site showcases the many direct benefits of broadband including how investment in the networks facilitate better education and health care, economic opportunities, a cleaner environment and more entertainment choices.
“As the broadband world unfolds in real time, we have created a unique forum to show how broadband can dramatically enhance virtually every aspect of our lives. The website also offers diverse tools and opportunities for those who work in or follow the industry to explore emerging technologies and innovative business strategies,” explained USTelecom President and CEO Walter B. McCormick Jr. “Our robust new online presence is a powerful statement about the broadband industry, the important role it plays in the U.S. and world economies, as well as the association that represents them.”
The site’s home page opens as an interactive video wall highlighting all that broadband can deliver through distance learning programs, e-health services, environmental protection and countless forms of entertainment. There are also key statistics on broadband including the fact that one million Americans rely on remote cardiac monitoring today, telecommuters will save 840 million gallons of gas this year and broadband can reduce greenhouse gases by one billion tons in ten years.
“Broadband has dramatically changed how people communicate, learn and live. The site reflects this new reality and serves, in an interactive way, as a tool for anyone – policymakers or consumers - who wants to know more about the broadband future and how debates in Washington shape what the broadband future will look like,” explained Regina Hopper, USTelecom’s Executive Vice President.
The site, which relies heavily on video, presents industry and association news, as well as a blog by legislative, regulatory and technical experts. With the association’s member companies squarely focused on deploying broadband, the site drives home the fact that USTelecom is “The Broadband Association.”
