USTelecom Praises House Passage of 2008 Farm Bill
Background: Today, the House passed the 2008 Farm Bill which includes provisions to improve the Rural Utility Service’s broadband program.
The following statement is from Walter B. McCormick Jr., President and CEO of USTelecom:
“Today’s vote for the Farm Bill in the House will help speed the deployment of broadband to rural America and better target RUS broadband loans to unserved areas.
“Broadband creates countless new opportunities in rural America through e-health programs, distance learning, and energy conservation and this bill will help ensure that all consumers enjoy the same benefits from high-speed Internet services, regardless of where they live. We strongly urge the Senate to pass the bill quickly to get it to the President’s desk.”
