WASHINGTON, DC – Marking the start of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, USTelecom today announced the official release of the Cybersecurity Toolkit, a one-stop online source of information designed for a broad set of stakeholders involved in cybersecurity policy, research and planning. The Toolkit, previewed in a July 19 webinar, is a linkable resource that organizes the cyber policy world into the various arms of government, academia, industry and partnership groups that are working together on cybersecurity issues.
“While the Internet offers an abundance of exceptional resources to choose from, we have selected those sites which we believe allow the novice, the expert, and those somewhere in between to access a wealth of information in an organized and self-guided manner,” said USTelecom President Walter McCormick.
The Toolkit provides links to the latest key congressional, academic and military reports, and up-to-date information from groups tracking real-time cyber threats. Links provide quick access to the multitude of laws and regulations on the books now that address computer security, as well as information about common attack methods and security protective exercises. The Toolkit offers users access to a cybersecurity acronym glossary, which could be a help to those not familiar with the many different agencies and departments involved in the cyber mission.
Links also are provided to ongoing legislative efforts in Congress, recent Congressional Research Service and Government Accountability Office reports on various aspects of cybersecurity, and efforts by multiple government agencies to track and protect against cyber-attacks.
A resource center is included with links to industry best practices, academic cybersecurity centers and self-help tools for keeping individual users’ computers safe.
