Statement on FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund

“Ready to get started…”

Background: Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai today released his proposed final rules to launch the $20.4 billion Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF), establishing a two-phased process to fund high-speed broadband in rural America. The proposed RDOF rules will be voted on at the FCC’s open meeting on January 30, 2020.

The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO, USTelecom:

“USTelecom members have built the networks that cover more rural Americans with fixed broadband than any other industry segment. They are uniquely positioned to compete for essential RDOF funds and deliver on the commitment to connect rural America to the power and promise of broadband. While we evaluate the details of the proposal, one thing is certain: we’re ready to get started.”
