American consumers flocked to the internet on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, breaking historic records for online sales on the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. While analysts expected record-breaking online sales over the Thanksgiving weekend, no one predicted that Black Friday would almost surpass Cyber Monday as the largest online shopping day of the year. 


Multi-sector industry-government engagement is vital if the nation is to stay ahead of the prolific growth and creativity of global cyber threats, Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker said at a recent USTelecom National Cybersecurity Policy Forum. Pritzker talked up a report that was months in the works commissioned by the President’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity.


Good news for broadband users: online speeds for the average consumer are increasing at a rapid pace and the actual speeds delivered by broadband providers meet or exceed the advertised rate. Those are the key conclusions of the sixth “Measuring Broadband America: Fixed Broadband Report” released by the FCC at the beginning of the month.
