USTelecom actively advocates for policy reforms that will promote innovation, investment and consumer choice in high-speed broadband.
USTelecom filed a petition in October 2014 identifying specific actions the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could take through regulatory forbearance to eliminate barriers to broadband investment and deployment of new Internet infrastructure. The FCC issued an order Dec. 17, 2015 granting some of the areas of regulatory relief that USTelecom requested.
Regulations that apply to some, but not all, broadband service providers distort investment and competition, ultimately hurting consumers. USTelecom believes it’s time to update the nation’s legislative and regulatory framework to reflect today’s realities.
