Statement: Multiple Tenant Environments Inquiry Raises Important Questions

Background: Today, the Federal Communications Commission voted to open a Notice of Inquiry into how to promote greater consumer choice and more broadband options in multiple tenant environments such as apartment complexes or shopping malls.

This statement can be attributed to USTelecom CEO Jonathan Spalter:

“Closing the digital divide and expanding access to high-speed broadband internet service is a vital economic issue. This Notice of Inquiry raises notable questions about what role the federal government can play in ensuring consumers and small businesses have competitive choices for service, including a much-needed examination of whether state and local regulations are hindering broadband providers’ efforts to enter new markets.”
