Statement on FCC Eliminating Professional Engineer Certification Requirement

Today, the FCC streamlined the broadband data collection rules by eliminating the professional engineer certification requirements. This will reduce unnecessary costs and burdens on providers for their biannual filings.

The following statement is attributable to USTelecom spokesperson Cara Duckworth:

“The FCC has not taken their foot off the pedal in their efforts to ‘delete, delete, delete’ burdensome regulations so that America’s broadband providers can build, build, build. By cutting through this red tape, the Commission has maintained the standards we expect without sacrificing the flexibility we need. This gives real relief to broadband providers, especially in rural America.”
