On Thursday, August 29, USTelecom filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in support of the FCC’s 2018 Pole Attachment Order against a legal challenge by several electrical utilities. USTelecom’s brief defended the FCC’s actions to eliminate outdated and artificial rate disparities for communications providers that attach to utility poles. As stated in the brief, the ability to attach “communications infrastructure to utility poles promptly and at reasonable costs directly impacts how quickly and efficiently broadband is deployed and how far it reaches.”

USTelecom will continue to support the FCC’s congressionally delegated authority over pole attachments to promote broadband deployment.
