Background: The Federal Communications Commission today approved an order that eliminates and streamlines outdated payphone reporting obligations.
This statement can be attributed to USTelecom CEO Jonathan Spalter:
“The Commission’s action today on payphone compensation is the perfect example of smart government – it eliminates rules that have outlived their useful purpose. Removal of the burden of having telecom providers undergo expensive annual audits of payphone data in a world where payphones are nearly non-existent, will free providers to further invest in expanding and upgrading broadband networks.”
