USTelecom members have pledged to provide broadband service to nearly 3.6 million rural locations with $1.5 billion in support from the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Connect America Fund.
Today, CenturyLink, Consolidated and AT&T announced they would accept nearly $1 billion in annual Connect America Fund money over six years to deliver broadband to more than 2.3 million new rural locations.
Yesterday, USTelecom members Hawaiian Telcom and FairPoint announced they would accept more than $63 million in Connect America Phase II funds to continue their broadband expansion to their rural customers.
