Background: The Council to Secure the Digital Economy (CSDE) brings together leading global companies from across the information technology and communications sectors to combat increasingly sophisticated and emerging cyber threats through collaborative actions. CSDE is jointly coordinated by USTelecom – The Broadband Association and the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global voice of the tech sector. Jonathan Spalter, President & CEO, USTelecom, and Dean Garfield, President & CEO, of ITI, participated in an industry perspective panel to discuss current and future initiatives to bolster the country’s cyber defenses.
The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter of USTelecom and Dean Garfield of ITI:
“Today’s summit was more than another academic exercise. It was a concrete example of the value – and wisdom – of convening leaders from government, business and technology to share best practices and a collaborative vision to anticipate global cyber threats and combat the escalating attacks on our digital economy. Along with leading companies in the information technology and communications sectors, USTelecom and ITI founded the Council to Secure the Digital Economy because our sectors are on the front lines of these sophisticated and evolving attacks. We look forward to continuing our leadership in public-private partnerships, risk management assessments, and cross-sector initiatives in DHS’s National Risk Management Initiative. A cross sector approach is the surest path forward to reducing the risk of cyberattacks against our global infrastructure.”
