FCC Open Meeting Provides Regulatory Relief, Clarity on Accountability

Background: At an open commission meeting today, the FCC adopted orders providing regulatory relief and clarity on three items related to network 911 fees, tariffs, and performance testing.

The following statement can be attributed to Patrick Halley, USTelecom’s Senior Vice President, Policy & Advocacy.

“This Commission has made regulatory clarity and parity a cornerstone of its decision making process. Many of the items adopted today remove significant costs and administrative burdens that did little to further connectivity. The FCC’s Order on USF Broadband Performance Metrics will provide needed clarity around how USTelecom members can demonstrate their experience as stewards of valuable USF funding. While we await the details, we appreciate the Commission taking this opportunity to streamline some processes while maintaining needed accountability.”
