Statement on FCC’s draft to Promote Equal Access to Broadband

Today, the Federal Communications Commission released a draft Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to promote equal access to broadband service.

The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO, USTelecom:

“Providing all communities the opportunities of the digital economy is a shared goal of Congress, the FCC and America’s broadband providers. That means promoting deployment, adoption, and digital inclusion and preventing intentional discrimination in deployment. However well-intentioned, the FCC’s draft rules create a regulatory structure that could stifle investment and force providers to divert limited capital away from deployment. Delivering high-speed broadband to all in America must be our common mission and collective priority. Our nation’s broadband sector will remain committed to working collaboratively with stakeholders to close any remaining broadband gaps.”
