Statement: Approval of Anti-Robocall TRACED Act

Background: Today the Senate Commerce Committee unanimously approved the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act, S. 151., a bill to bolster the FCC’s ability to stop illegal robocalls. The bill now heads to the full Senate for a vote.

The following statement can be attributed to Patrick Halley, Senior Vice President of Law & Policy, USTelecom:

“For years, USTelecom and our members have been hard at work tracking down illegal robocallers, leading the way in the deployment of new call authentication standards to accelerate the fight against the robocall epidemic and thwart efforts to defraud American consumers.

“As we shared with the Committee yesterday, the TRACED Act will bolster our shared goal of bringing illegal robocallers to justice with enhanced government prosecution, including criminal prosecution.”
